PILOT VESSELS

Pilot vessels are a specialised craft specifically designed for transfer of marine pilots to oceangoing ships at sea. The vessels must be fast, reliable, of solid construction, and be able to operate in adverse sea conditions. The safety of the marine pilot is of utmost importance. Their transfer between pilot vessel and ship is one of the most dangerous tasks performed at sea. Special consideration must be given in the design of these vessels to minimise the dangers to the marine pilot.

Stewart Marine Design has designed a range of landing craft from 12.0m to 15.0m in length. These ships have been built in FRP sandwich, and aluminium alloy. Particular care is taken in the design of these craft. As well as having to meet the pilot operator's transport needs, we ensure they are easy to construction and provide low ongoing maintenance.
